Mute Swan On Lake Nelson

Mute Swan

Mike usually spots the early morning visitors, but this time Chris let out the "swan alert." While taking the last photos, Mike noticed that there were also common mergansers.

Mute swans are very rare visitors to Lake Nelson. It's been two years since we last saw one, but that one stayed for two weeks. This one just flew off as we were blogging. It is stunning in flight.

  1. Hi Chris....could you please tell me if Lake Nelson is a private Lake or can anyone come there and walk around ? I went on Google Earth and it looks to me there are no trails to walk. Could you please tell me if that is the case. I see your pictures on NJ Birds all the time. I live around the Princeton area and would like to come up ans see the lake sometime soon.

    Thanks, Carol Simmons
